Welcome to the UIUC Engineers in Action Bridge Program!

Hello to all our wonderful UIUC students! (and those who may not be, hello to you, too!)

If you’re wondering how you ended up on this area of our website and you’re thinking of turning back to the Take Action button, wait! You made it this far, might as well stay a few more minutes and take a gander at what you’ve wandered all the way here for.

We are the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Engineers in Action Bridge Program, a program that is specifically designed to work hand in hand with international communities in need. We work alongside these beautiful communities to help them construct a footbridge to help them access all sorts of resources, like education, healthcare, job opportunities, farm land, and the list goes on, and on, and on. But what does that actually mean?

It means that we do work that matters, and if you’re a student itchin’ to get your hands on something that isn’t only resume-boosting and impressive, but also meaningful, impactful, and of compassion for others, then this is the place for you.

So, Welcome to the team! We know you’ll love it here.

If you’re unsure of what types of roles that we have available, I’ll give you a basic overview of the different genres of areas we have going on, but if you want to check out our descriptions under the “Take Action” button, then that works, too. Here at UIUC EIA Bridge Program, we have a wide variety of positions for students (like you!) to choose from and apply yourself. There are four main teams that you’re able to join every year, as the positions renew themselves. Nervous? It’s okay— we have experienced students to guide you through your position. Here’s an overview of our teams:

  1. Travel Team (travel to the build locations to construct the footbridge)

  2. Design Team (design the footbridge using different AutoCAD softwares)

  3. Internal Team (handles the campus affairs, fundraisers, social events, etc.)

  4. External Team (handles the professional affairs, sponsorships, grants, etc.)

See? There’s a place for you, whatever your skill-set, interest, or goals. Also, if you’re new to our organization and want to observe for a bit before jumping in, that’s great, too! Attend our General Meetings (usually every-other Monday at 7-8PM at Engineering Hall, but you can contact us to double check for that info and the room number) and stay up to date on the latest news, professional development events, internship opportunities from our amazing sponsors, and if you ever want to take the dive into joining any of our teams, we’ll be here to help you out.

Anyways, that was a long-winded way of saying this:

Hello, we’re the UIUC Chapter of the EIA Bridge Program. We think we do meaningful work and we’d love for you to join us along the way. We’ll see you at our next meeting!

Cheers!
